US President Donald Trump has a strange proposal for FIFA President Gianni Infantino.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup has been hosted by the US, Mexico, and Canada, with Donald Trump’s country hosting the majority of the games.

Ahead of the finals between Argentina and Spain, Trump has expressed his desire for the US to host another World Cup in the future.

Donald Trump wants the US to host a World Cup with China

The next World Cup available for bidding is the 2038 edition of the tournament. After all, Portugal, Spain, and Morocco will host the 2030 World Cup. On the other, Saudi Arabia won the bid for the 2034 World Cup.

Coming back to Trump’s point, he claimed that the US deserves another shot at hosting the World Cup, ideally alone or with China.

“You should choose the United States of America again. This time, we will leave Canada and Mexico out,” Trump said. “You choose us and pick somebody else for the next one, and that’ll take some of the anger, hatred, and steam out of everyone.”

The US President added, “Gianni [Infantino] also had another idea, he said, ‘We could do China and the US for the next time.’ So, you have a nice short flight in between games.”

Trump was obviously joking about the US and China hosting a FIFA World Cup together. For starters, fans can’t ignore the political tensions between the two nations.

Additionally, the flight between games will not be short by any means, but that’s Trump, the US President, who likes to make jokes about the biggest sports tournament in the world.
