Don Hutchison has made it clear that Jurgen Klopp won’t leave Liverpool at the end of the season after it was suggested by Tim Sherwood.

The Reds recorded a goalless draw at home to Chelsea on Saturday to add another game to forget to their bleak and performance-drained season.

From their opening game draw to Fulham to their thumping at Brighton recently, it has gone wrong everywhere and anywhere for the club.

It wasn’t so long ago that Klopp, whilst Liverpool were chasing the unthinkable four trophies last season, signed on the dotted line and extended his stay on Merseyside until 2026.

Previously, former Tottenham and Aston Villa manager Sherwood has stated that Klopp ‘will leave’, well fast forward to the present after their draw against Chelsea and he repeated those claims.

But former Liverpool midfielder Hutchison wasn’t having any of it, as he referenced the German’s exit at Dortmund, as he told MatchDay Extra on Premier League Productions (21/01/23 at 8:20 pm)

“That’s not going to happen,” said Hutchison. “It won’t happen. Jurgen Klopp has said it.

“When Jurgen Klopp was at Dortmund and he went through the same sort of results, and he left, there were loads of mitigating circumstances.

“They had sold Lewandowski. They sold Mario Gotze, Kagawa and Nuri Sahin. It was different. When Jurgen Klopp left, or when they sacked him, their chief executive, Hans-Joachim Watzke said ‘the biggest mistake we made in Germany was sacking Jurgen Klopp. What we should have done is sack half the team’ because they knew how special Klopp was.”

Sherwood responded: “They won’t sack him, I haven’t said that. He will walk away.”

Hutchison then added: “He won’t. He has already said it last week, ‘I will rebuild this team’ and the Liverpool fans will back him.”

KLOPP READY FOR THE REBUILD

Whether it’s FSG or new owners, if the powers that be at Liverpool are willing to back Klopp, then he will turn their current mess around.

He’s already done the toughest job and that’s ending the club’s near-30-year wait to win the title, added to winning the Champions League.

But the lack of pro-active nature in the market, especially in the middle of the park, has meant that the team are in a heap of mess and, at this moment in time, heading towards finishing outside of the Champions League places.
