John Terry stated on Twitter that Real Madrid ‘deserved’ to beat Liverpool in the Champions League final, but he wasn’t happy with Karim Benzema’s disallowed goal in Paris.
The Chelsea legend also praised Thibaut Courtois for his performance, as the former Premier League keeper walked away with the Man of the Match award.
It was a dominant first half from Liverpool, but on the stroke of half-time, Benzema saw his effort, after a scramble, ruled out for offside after a lengthy VAR check.
Terry was bemused at that call and stated that the rule ‘clearly doesn’t make sense’, in the end, Vinicius Junior’s goal separated both sides.
Nonetheless, these were the several tweets Terry sent about yesterday’s Champions League final.
LIVERPOOL HAVE NO EXCUSES AS MADRID DESERVED VICTORY
Both teams are European royalty and it was a case of ‘revenge’ or ‘history repeating itself’ before a ball could be kicked.
Four years ago, Madrid were victorious in Kyiv against the same opponent and those from Merseyside couldn’t stop history from telling the same story.
Whilst Jurgen Klopp will question how on earth his team didn’t score, with Courtois producing the performance of his life.
At the end of the day, in the second half, Madrid turned it on and produced a masterclass in how to manage and defend a game against such a formidable opponent.
