According to The Guardian, Aston Villa have an interest in signing Gareth Bale after his release from Real Madrid.
This would be an interesting signing on many levels. After all, Bale is a legend of the game and at the age of just 32, he’d still have a lot to offer this Villa team.
However, perhaps the most interesting thing about this is the fact that Steven Gerrard was actually in attendance for Bale’s final ever game for Real Madrid as he did BT Sport’s punditry on last month’s Champions League final.
Bale, of course, didn’t get off of the bench in that match, but Gerrard still praised him after the game, stating that he doesn’t get the appreciation he deserves.
What’s been said?
Gerrard spoke highly of Bale after winning his fifth Champions League.
“It’s a shame that he does not get the appreciation that he deserves in terms of the contribution over that period of time and what he is going to go away with on his CV,” Gerrard said.
“It’s a shame that he never got the chance to come on the pitch tonight, but in time and years to come, he will look back and say, ‘I have won this five times’.”

Project
Gerrard believes that Bale doesn’t get the credit he deserves, and this could be how he sells a move to Aston Villa to the Welshman.
Over the past few years, far too many fans have forgotten just how good Bale can be, and Gerrard could now offer him a chance of a last hurrah to re-establish himself as a top-level player by dragging Villa into the European picture.
Bale will go down as a legend within the game regardless of what happens, but he’ll surely want to go out on a high, and that is what Gerrard can offer him.
The Villa boss believes that Bale should be held in higher esteem, and if he signs for the Midlands club, he could help him restore his status as one of Britain’s greatest footballers.
