Steven Gerrard has given his take on reported Tottenham Hotspur target Gareth Bale on BT Sports (10:58pm, May 28, 2022) after he won the UEFA Champions League with Real Madrid at the expense of Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool.
Former Tottenham winger Bale, linked with a move back to Spurs in the summer transfer window, was part of the Real Madrid squad that won the UEFA Champions League final against Liverpool on Saturday evening.
The 32-year-old was an unused substitute for Carlo Ancelotti’s side.
It was Bale’s fifth UEFA Champions League title with Madrid in his career.
The Wales international is leaving Madrid now and will become a free agent this summer.
In February, TuttoMercatoWeb reported that the Wales international winger has already signed a pre-contract agreement to rejoin Tottenham for a third time.
Steven Gerrard on reported Tottenham Hotspur target Gareth Bale
Gerrard said about Bale on BT Sports (10:58pm, May 28, 2022): “It’s a shame that he does not get the appreciation that he deserves in terms of the contribution over that period of time and what he is going to go away with on his CV.
“It’s a shame that he never got the chance to come on the pitch tonight, but in time and years to come, he will look back and say, ‘I have won this five times’.”

Back to Spurs?
Bale is a serial winner who won the La Liga thrice and the UEFA Champions League on five occasions with Madrid.
Yes, the 32-year-old has had injury problems in recent years, but he is fit now.
If Tottenham are able to convince Bale to take a pay-cut, then signing him on a free transfer would not be a bad idea.
Remember, Tottenham will play in the Champions League next season, and a player of Bale’s quality and experience would be invaluable.
