Speaking on his podcast, Glenn Hoddle has backed Tanguy Ndombele to continue to improve, claiming that Spurs shouldn’t sell him yet because there is more to come from him.
Ndombele has had something of a stop-start career so far at Tottenham, his debut season was poor, and while he started this campaign very well, he’s slowed down in recent weeks.
Hoddle is clearly a fan of Ndombele and he says that he’s got something to offer at Spurs.
“I quite like him in the sense that he does some unbelievable things on the pitch and some things that are so unusual and he can be creative. I think he takes too many touches and he slows the game down,” Hoddle said.
“I would agree that those two players are nowhere near as good as Eriksen. Listen, Eriksen wasn’t good at the beginning he has two seasons where he was poor and then he hit form and had two or three seasons where he was excellent, but even then he was poor for a year and a bit under Poch and as he left the club he was awful in many ways.
“He had this purple patch, and that’s the player Tottenham need at this moment. Ndombele for me is a decent player, but for the standard you’ve got to be, Ndombele would be a squad player, he’d be one who comes on, that’s how good Spurs have got to become, you wouldn’t necessarily sell him yet because there’s more to come, but if I was working with him I’d have him playing quicker, I’d have him shifting the ball quicker, and for me he does hold onto the ball for a little bit too long.”

Hoddle clearly thinks that Ndombele has a bit of talent, but this isn’t the way you want to hear a pundit speak about your club-record signing.
Ndombele has been here for two years now, we should be talking about one of Spurs’ best players rather than someone they could think about selling.
Hoddle is spot on about him holding onto the ball for too long, and that’s something Spurs’ new manager needs to fix when he comes in.
