Paul Heckingbottom has not inspired the improvement many were hoping for at Leeds United.
Leeds United boss Paul Heckingbottom may have been put under more pressure by Ipswich Town’s announcement that Mick McCarthy will leave at the end of the season.
It is fair to say that things haven’t gone according to plan for Heckingbottom since he took over from Thomas Christiansen.
Leeds have not improved at all since he took charge, and they have slipped away from the play off spots.
The Whites now have very little left to play for other than pride this season, as they have lost too much ground in the race for promotion.
But Heckingbottom needs Leeds to finish strongly, otherwise he will come under a lot more scrutiny.
Some Whites fans are already questioning whether Heckingbottom is the man to take them forward, but there was no obvious replacement on the market.
However, with McCarthy available, Leeds now have a clear potential successor out of work.
McCarthy has done an impressive job on a limited budget at Ipswich, but both parties decided that the time was to right to move on.
HITC have already reported on how some Leeds fans are keen to see McCarthy arrive at Elland Road.
And these calls are only set to get louder in the coming weeks, if Heckingbottom doesn’t improve the Whites’ form.
