Fernando Torres is set to join Japanese outfit Sagan Tosu, killing off the dreams of Rangers fans who wanted him in the Scottish Premiership.

Well, the dream is officially dead.
When it was announced back in May that Fernando Torres was set to bring an end to his second spell at Atletico Madrid, some of the more optimistic members of the Rangers support were genuinely dreaming of watching the legendary striker see out his Autumn days at Ibrox next season.
The presence of his former Liverpool partner Steven Gerrard in the Rangers dugout certainly appeared to give Rangers fans something to hold onto.

But rather than swapping Madrid for Glasgow, Torres has instead opted to follow Andres Iniesta to the Far East. We mean the far, far east.
The 34-year-old has announced via his official Twitter account that he is joining Japanese first division side Sagan Tosu, who are currently 17th in the division. They will be hoping that the veteran Torres has the evergreen skill to fire them away from relegation danger.
But Rangers fans have made their feelings on Torres’ money-spinning move quite clear.

The former Liverpool and Chelsea striker, who won the European Champions and the World Cup with Spain too, would have been perhaps the biggest signing in Rangers’ recent history and his decision to go to Japan has left some fans genuinely disappointed, despite Torres never actually being linked with a move to Ibrox.
