Fans of Premier League bottom side West Bromwich Albion have been clamouring for Alan Pardew to give Sam Field a chance at The Hawthorns.

Alan Pardew cannot do right for doing wrong at West Brom.

Baggies fans took to Twitter to vent their fury when the brilliant academy graduate Sam Field starred, and scored, in an U23 clash with Ipswich Town last month, demanding to know why Pardew was not giving the 19-year-old the first-team opportunities his talent demands.

The beleaguered manager, then, might have hoped he would at least be in for some semblance of praise when he brought Field off the bench with half an hour remaining in Saturday’s 4-1 home defeat to Leicester City.

Not so. Whereas West Brom fans were once frustrated with Pardew’s refusal to use Field, they are now questioning how he is using the England U20 international.

Not only did Field replace Grzegorz Krychowiak, probably the Baggies top performer against the Foxes, Pardew decided to shift the youngster once again into that ill-fitting left wing position which clearly does not get the best out of his dynamic energy and technical skills.

It is this lack of tactical nous, they believe, that has gone some way to leading West Brom to the verge of relegation.

While Field has featured sporadically under Pardew, it seems he would be one of many Baggies players who would benefit from a change in the dugout.
