West Bromwich Albion’s under-23s suffered defeat in a game where Sam Field get on the scoresheet.

West Brom fans have been reacting on Twitter after Sam Field started and scored in the Baggies’ under-23’s defeat to Ipswich Town in the Premier League Cup on Monday.
It has been a mixed season for Field. He featured in both of the Baggies’ wins in the opening two weekends of the season, but did not play again for the side until Alan Pardew had replaced Tony Pulis.

Unlike many of his teammates, his campaign ended up beginning with a run of five appearances without a defeat. Nevertheless, he has been used almost as sparingly under Pardew as he was under Pulis, with the 19-year-old playing once in the Premier League since the turn of the year.
He has predominantly played for the under-23 side in recent times, and he was part of the side that took on their Ipswich counterparts today. Field scored a penalty but was on the losing side as the Tractor Boys sealed a 3-2 win.

The news that he played for the under-23 side has prompted plenty of discussion on social media, with many fans slamming Pardew for not using him more often in the first-team.
The supporters cannot get their heads around the fact that Pardew has decided to persevere with the likes of Gareth Barry and Jake Livermore – despite both men struggling for form this season, and certainly not being the only players who have underperformed this term – when Field has looked lively and often impressed when he has been given a chance.
Here is the reaction to West Brom’s under-23’s side defeat and Field’s inclusion in the side…
