Championship outfit Nottingham Forest are not demanding the world for Ben Brereton – and Premier League powerhouses Spurs should keep watching

Ben Brereton was attracting admiring glances from some of the biggest clubs in England after breaking into the Nottingham Forest first team at the start of 2017. It would look like a rather rapid fall from grace then if the highly-rated striker now joined Blackburn Rovers for just £8 million.

According to The Sun, Rovers have made an improved bid for Brereton having seen a £6 million offer turned down recently. Any deal would see the 19-year-old move to Ewood Park on loan with an obligation to make the move permanent.

The Sun, however, adds that Nottingham Forest would rather sell for £12 million. And, after Brereton failed to feature in any of their five games in 2018/19, it is claimed that they are weighing up whether or not to sell.

For £12 million, however, this is a risk that Tottenham Hotspur simply must take.

The Mail reported in January that Spurs, along with Everton and RB Leipzig, were watching the Forest academy graduate on a regular basis. And fans from North London were certainly very impressed when Brereton tore apart Arsenal in a 4-2 FA Cup win at the start of 2018.

Now, Brereton is simply the trademark Tottenham signing – one that would not be too dissimilar to Dele Alli. He is young, British and, in truth, relatively cheap in today’s market.

A £12 million teenager could be worth double or triple that after honing his trade under Mauricio Pochettino after all. Though Spurs would need Forest to reject Blackburn’s advances and hope that they can still land him on the cheap come January.
