Real Betis’s La Liga midfielder William Carvalho has been linked with the Premier League and West Ham United for two years now.

West Ham United are being linked with Portugal international William Carvalho yet again. And we have Estadio Deportivo to thank for re-igniting one of Europe’s most long-running transfer sagas.
The 27-year-old midfielder has been linked with a move to England, the Hammers in particular, for as long as memory will allow. At least since his formative days at the heart of the Sporting Lisbon engine room.
West Ham were heavily linked last summer, having made a £32 million bid for Carvalho 12 months earlier (Diario Record).
Back in 2017, Slaven Bilic told The Guardian that he was ‘quite confident’ that a deal for Carvalho could be agreed. He was wrong. Carvalho stayed at Sporting and, when he did eventually leave the Estadio Jose Alvalade, it was to join Real Betis in Spain.

But according to Estadio Deportivo, West Ham haven’t given up hope just yet of landing a player who shone as Portugal beat Holland in the inaugural Nations League final on Sunday.
Carvalho is happy at Betis, who paid £26 million for his signature, but will the lure of the Premier League be too much to resist this time around?
