Premier League outfit Spurs might be about to lose Reo Griffiths with Ligue 1 side Lyon reportedly closing in.

Tottenham Hotspur have already lost one of their most promising talents this summer when Keanen Bennetts became the latest English youngster to make the move to Germany, signing for Borussia Monchengladbach.

But it seemed that the North London club were set to hang onto Reo Griffiths. Football London had reported that the 18-year-old was a target for the likes of Celtic and RB Leipzig but he appeared to silence any speculation by hinting on Instagram that a contract was close to being signed.

Since then, however, all the signs are adding up, pointing to a departure before the close of the transfer window.

Griffiths, who scored a remarkable 32 goals in 27 games for Spurs’ U18s last season, was omitted from the club’s pre-season tour of the USA – much to the chagrin of supporters who wanted to see him in action.

And French outlet Radio Scoop is now reporting that the teenage striker could soon be on his way. It is understood that Ligue 1 outfit Lyon are in advanced talks with Griffiths with the signing expected to be announced imminently.

This will be a major blow for Spurs, who have been unable to tie Griffiths down to a professional contract. Obviously, he feels he would stand a better chance of getting first-team football abroad.
