Ambitious Championship outfit Derby County are reportedly close to signing two new strikers – Ipswich Town’s Waghorn and Peterborough United’s Marriott.

Derby County have added three creative talents to their squad this month with Mason Mount, Harry Wilson and Florian Jozefzoon all moving to Pride Park. Now, the Rams must find a lethal striker or two capable of putting away the chances they carve out.
Fortunately, it seems they are close to landing two new centre-forwards.
The Mail reported on Wednesday that Derby are in advanced negotiations to sign Martyn Waghorn from Ipswich Town with the 28-year-old keen to work with Frank Lampard. The former Rangers man, who is valued at around £8 million, scored 16 goals in the Championship last season and set up another 11.
But The Mail (live blog, 2.40pm) claims that Waghorn might not be the only new striker at Derby.

It is reported that Derby are close to finally signing the coveted Peterborough United forward Jack Marriott after holding talks about a potential deal on Wednesday.
The East Midlands outfit have already had three bids rejected for Marriott this summer, according to Peterborough chairman Darragh MacAnthony, but it is now reported by the Mail that they are close to agreeing a deal which could rise to £5 million with add-ons. Derby will pay an initial fee of around £2 million.
Marriott was the Football League’s top scorer last season, netting 33 goals in all competitions. He and Waghorn, who has handed in a transfer request to force an exit from Ipswich, could form quite the potent partnership.
