Championship promotion hopefuls Derby County have been heavily linked with Peterborough United’s Jack Marriott and Darragh MacAnthony had his say.

Jack Marriott has been linked with a move away from Peterborough United since early December. But, with just three weeks left in the summer transfer window, the Football League’s most prolific marksman is still at London Road despite links with a whole host of clubs.
Although this is not for a lack of trying on Derby County’s part.
The Rams have been one of the clubs most closely linked with Marriott in recent times. And, in an interview posted on the club’s official Twitter account, Peterborough chairman Darragh MacAnthony has confirmed that Derby have now made three bids for the 23-year-old.
“Derby have made three bids for Jack and we’ve turned them all down. The bids involved slightly different offers and we’ve told Jack about them all,” MacAnthony said.
“We have a valuation of a 23 year-old, lightning fast striker who won the League One Golden Boot last season.”
Marriott scored 33 goals in all competitions last season, making his 2017 arrival from Luton Town one of the most astute pieces of business in all of English football.
Peterborough have a habit of transforming lower league strikers into stars, having done the same with both Dwight Gayle and Britt Assombalonga. And the Sun claimed in May that Posh would demand £6.5 million for any club who wishes to sign Marriott.
Therefore, it can only be assumed that all three of Derby’s bids fell below that mark.
