Report gives Nottingham Forest encouragement to bid for Rangers’ Wes Foderingham

Nottingham Forest manager Aitor Karanka wants a new goalkeeper and could turn to Mark Warburton’s former Rangers number one Foderingham.

Mark Warburton is no longer in charge at Nottingham Forest but it seems that his replacement, Aitor Karanka, has his eye on the same goalkeeping target.

The Scottish Sun reported recently that Forest were keen on signing Rangers’ Wes Foderingham this summer amid suggestions that he could be on his way out ahead of the impending arrival of Allan McGregor (26th April).

Foderingham took to Twitter to suggest that he was not angling for a move – but that decision could now be taken out of his hands.

The Scottish Sun is now reporting that the former Swindon Town shot-stopper is one of four first-team players Rangers will consider offers for in this summer’s transfer window.

And Karanka should not need any more encouragement to bring Foderingham, who worked with Warburton at Rangers between 2015 and 2017, to the City Ground this summer.

The goalkeeping position has been a problem for Forest over the last two seasons. And, with a number of shot-stoppers linked as the transfer window prepares to open, it seems that the Championship giants are once again in pursuit of a new number one.

The Mirror suggested that Costel Pantilimon could stay permanently once his loan spell from Watford comes to an end but Foderingham is a younger, long-term option who would also give Karanka the option of playing out from the back if he so desires.
