Oli McBurnie could leave Premier League side Swansea City on loan with Rangers and Sunderland battling for his signature.

Rangers manager Graeme Murty had hinted that there would be more arrivals at Ibrox before the end of the transfer window. And it seems he could be right.

According to the Daily Record, Rangers are in talks with Swansea City over the loan signing of young striker Oli McBurnie. The Scotland under-21 star is expected to leave the Liberty Stadium this month in search of more regular first-team football and that could take him to Glasgow.

McBurnie has not scored in 11 Premier League appearances this season but boasts a superb record for the under-23s. The 6ft 2ins front man has ten goals in seven games this time round and he the Premier League 2 Player of the Season award for his exploits in the previous campaign.

And it seems that Murty will look to give McBurnie, who is understood to be a boyhood Rangers fanatic, the chance to prove he can perform at senior level, too.

HITC sources told us on Tuesday that Sunderland had expressed an interest in bringing McBurnie to the Stadium of Light as the cash-strapped club aim to replace departed top-scorer Lewis Grabban without spending a penny.

After missing out on fellow loan targets Ben Woodburn and Jon Walters, it appeared they could finally strike it lucky with McBurnie.

But Rangers’ sudden interest should make Sunderland very nervous with just a few hours of the transfer window remaining.
