Championship club Derby County made a bid to sign Jack Marriott from League One Peterborough United earlier in July

There is less than a month remaining in the transfer window and the future of Jack Marriott is still up in the air.
The Football League’s most prolific striker last season with 33 goals in all competitions, 23-year-old Marriott has been linked with a whole host of clubs from higher up the pyramid in recent months from Celtic to Crystal Palace, Leeds United to Nottingham Forest.
But are Derby County a likely destination? That is what one Rams fan wanted to know when he sent a message to Peterborough owner Darragh MacAnthony on Twitter asking whether Marriott could end the summer at Pride Park.
And the response was certainly intriguing.

Frank Lampard is understood to be keen on adding a prolific goalscorer to his squad, particularly with the Championship’s Golden Boot winner Matej Vydra likely to be sold as the east Midland giants make an attempt to slash the budget.
Marriott, a natural born goalscorer who models his own style on none other than Sergio Aguero, fits the bill. But with Derby looking to cash funds, it remains to be seen whether £7 million is out of their reach.
