Joel Robles is reportedly set to leave Everton and the Premier League, but can Nottingham Forest convince him to move to the Championship?

Nottingham Forest have one last chance to sign Joel Robles.

The City Ground club tried and failed to sign the Everton goalkeeper on the final day of last summer’s transfer window and, according to the Nottingham Post, were interested again heading into January.

Instead, however, Forest turned to Costel Pantilimon, landing the 6ft 8ins Romanian on loan from Watford, while Stefanos Kapino later arrived on a free from Olympiakos to add further strength in depth.

But worrying signs suggest that Nottingham Forest may once again be forced to scour the market for a new goalkeeper this summer. Pantilimon has returned to Watford and is a target for Aston Villa according to the Sun (June 3, page 59) while the Mail believes Kapino could return to Greece with Atromitos.

So reports in the Mail that Robles is set to leave Everton on a free this summer should not go unnoticed by Aitor Karanka.

The 27-year-old is reportedly in talks about a return to Getafe in his home city of Madrid (Daily Mail), but the Nottingham Post believed that Robles would be willing to step down from the Premier League to the Championship so there is still an opportunity for Forest.

Robles played just two games in all competitions last season thanks to the form of Jordan Pickford but would arguably be an upgrade on both Pantilimon and Kapino. There will not be many better ‘keepers available for nothing this summer.
