Southampton are looking set for relegation from the Premier League, and Saints playmaker Dusan Tadic would be welcomed by Newcastle United fans.

Newcastle United fans made it clear last year that Dusan Tadic would be welcomed with open arms at St James’ Park, as he admitted his frustrations at being left out by Southampton manager Claude Puel.
The Serbian playmaker, a team-mate of Aleksandar Mitrovic at international level, had lost his place in The Saints’ starting XI at times last season. And Magpies supporters took to Twitter to express their hope that Rafa Benitez would attempt to offer him an escape route.

One year on, meanwhile, the prospect of Tadic bidding farewell to St Mary’s looks more likely than ever.
Southampton are currently 18th in the Premier League table, three points adrift of safety, and Italian football website Calciomercato have reported that the former FC Twente assist-machine could bring an end to his four-year association with the club should they drop into the Championship.
And it is understood that Mark Hughes’ side may be willing to listen to offers if they are relegated – with Tadic valued at around £9 million – now that’s a fee even Newcastle’s penny-careful owner Mike Ashley could afford.

Tadic might be in the midst of his least productive season on the south coast – providing just three assists in 30 Premier League games – but he has the ability to contribute far more, and would be a fine addition for a Newcastle side who have been far from prolific this season.
