Lee Tomlin has thrived at the City Ground since he swapped Cardiff City for Championship rivals Nottingham Forest in the January transfer window.
The chances of Lee Tomlin beginning the 2018/19 season as a Nottingham Forest player now seem slim to say the least.
The enigmatic 29-year-old showed flashes of his best form since moving to Forest on loan in January following a disappointing few months at Cardiff City, scoring four goals, setting up another three and wowing fans with some sublime displays, reminding everyone that he is one of the most naturally gifted players in the Football League.
The Mirror (March 22, page 62) reported that Nottingham Forest were keen to sign Tomlin on a permanent deal this summer. And the former Peterborough star certainly enjoyed his time at the City Ground, if his official Instagram is anything to go by.
But it seems unlikely that Tomlin will be a Forest player next season.
Because the Nottingham Post stated recently that he wants to finally prove himself in the Premier League, having made just six appearances in the top flight in his entire career. They all came in a forgettable spell at Bournemouth in 2015/16.
But Cardiff’s promotion, which was secured with a goalless draw against Reading on Sunday, means Tomlin will be playing Premier League football in South Wales soon enough. That is if Neil Warnock decides to give him more of a chance, that is.
If Tomlin can force his way into Cardiff’s first-team plans over the summer, a permanent move to Forest seems off for now.
