German striker Kacper Przybylko recently spent time on trial at Sunderland but failed to earn a contract with the League One club.

Sunderland may be stuck in the third tier of English football right now after suffering successive relegations, but the size of the club was not lost on Kacper Przybylko.
The Polish-born German striker spent time on trial with the Black Cats earlier in the summer, claiming on Instagram that it would be an honour to sign for a club with Sunderland’s history and stature.
Przybylko was eventually denied his dream move, however. Sunderland opted against offering the 25-year-old a contract and he has since moved across the Atlantic to sign for Philadelphia Union.
The player has admitted that he cannot understand how Sunderland, as well as his former employers Kaiserslautern, are now playing their football in the third tiers of England and Germany respectively.
“It was very sad just watching all the games and not helping, it’s a big, traditional club like Sunderland,” the 6ft 4ins targetman said in quotes reported by Roker Report.
“It’s impossible that teams like Sunderland and Kaiserslautern are now in their third leagues.”

Kaiserslautern have won the German league title four times and as recently as 1998. But they were relegated to the third division for the first time since their formation in 1900 at the end of last season.
Sunderland, meanwhile, will be hoping to make their stay in League One a short one and they have made a largely positive start to life in the division.
