West Brom have reportedly made a bizarre bid for Hugo Rodallega, but surely Watford skipper Troy Deeney is the man to save their Premier League status.

West Bromwich Albion need a goal-scorer if they are to survive in the Premier League this season. The Baggies have netted just 16 times in 22 games and their failure to sign an upgrade for Salomon Rondon looks criminal now.
After all, the Venezuelan did go four months without a goal in the previous campaign so the signs were certainly there.
And with recruitment letting the Baggies down badly in recent years, you can understand why the supporters were so irate as the news broke this week that the club had made a £5 million bid for Hugo Rodallega, as reported by Gunes.

Yes, the Colombian scored at a decent rate for Wigan Athletic but it has been a long time since he was playing in the Premier League. At the age of 32, and playing in Turkey for Trabzonspor, you would be a brave man to bet on Rodallega scoring the goals to keep West Brom safe.
And while Troy Deeney will hardly be trying the Golden Boot on for size at the end of the season, it is fair to say he would be a far more astute signing for the Baggies.
West Brom have emerged as 6/4 favourites to sign the bullish striker with Sky Bet. Deeney hasn’t set the world alight for Watford in 2017/18, scoring twice in seven league starts, but he could be the sort of aggressive line-leader the Baggies are missing.

Deeney is powerful, direct, and boasts a good goal-scoring record as a regular starter. He scored 23 times in the last two Premier League campaigns.
So forget a has-been like Rodallega; West Brom will need to pay a little more for Deeney but Premier League survival is priceless.
