It seems as though the dream scenario for Cardiff City fans is to be a Premier League team next season with Lee Tomlin at his brilliant best in the centre of the park.

Big things were expected of one of the Championship’s most naturally gifted players when he arrived in South Wales from rivals Bristol City back in July but, after just one goal in 13 appearances, he was on his way out.

Loaned to Nottingham Forest as part of the deal that took Jamie Ward to Cardiff, Tomlin has quickly set about showing the Bluebirds exactly what they are missing.

Tomlin has found his form again in Forest colours, taking his tally to three goals in just three starts with a brace in the 5-2 thrashing of Queens Park Rangers on Saturday. In a Forest side that has struggled for creativity and cutting edge since Aitor Karanka’s appointment, this supremely talented footballer could be the difference maker.

While Forest fans have wasted no time making it very clear that they would love to see the former Peterborough United favourite stick around at the City Ground, it seems that Cardiff supporters still harbour hopes that Tomlin can make a success of his time with the Welsh club.
