Rangers may have signed two midfielders this summer, but they’re still being heavily linked with another in Heerenveen ace Joey Veerman.
The Gers secured Nnamdi Ofoborh on a pre-contract agreement from Bournemouth back in February, but Steven Gerrard claims he won’t be seen for a while now.
A heart issue has been found in Ofoborh’s ECG, meaning he will be on the sidelines for a while as he waits to hear when – or if – he can play again.
John Lundstram has also arrived from Sheffield United, but Rangers are still pursuing a deal for Dutch ace Veerman.
Branded ‘remarkable’ by Rob Molenaar, Veerman is a fine playmaking midfielder who can dictate play from deep whilst also being a threat further forward.
With nine goals and 11 assists last season, the former Volendam star is one of the top midfielders in the Eredivisie, so it’s no great surprise that he is attracting interest.

The problem for Rangers is that Heerenveen allegedly want €10million (£8.5million) for Veerman, which would be a huge fee for the Gers to pay.
Now though, FC Update carry quotes from Heerenveen technical director Ferry de Haan in which he claims a mystery club have made a move, and the deal is now being looked at, with Rangers seemingly favourites.
“A club has come forward and we have also indicated to Joey that we are looking at it. There is no further news,” said De Haan.
