Peter Crouch has said on BT Sport 1 (7:31pm, May 7, 2022) that he feels sorry for Liverpool forward Diogo Jota following the arrival of Luis Diaz.
The former Liverpool striker believes that Diaz has stolen Jota’s thunder since his move from FC Porto in the January transfer window.
The Portugal international forward started against Villarreal in the Champions League in midweek, but Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp dropped the £41 million forward (BBC Sport) for Colombia international winger Diaz.
Peter Crouch on Liverpool duo Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz
Crouch said on BT Sport 1 (7:31pm, May 7, 2022): “I felt for Jota. I feel for Jota in general really.
“He has come in, done so amazingly well, scored 20 odd goals, and then someone like Luis Diaz comes in and steals his thunder a little bit.”

Who is ahead?
In our opinion, Diaz is ahead of Jota in the pecking order at Liverpool at the moment.
Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane are the two constants in the Liverpool front-three.
Roberto Firmino has had injury and fitness problems this season, and Jota was making the headlines until Diaz came to Anfield in January.
The Colombia international winger works hard for the team, can run all day, scores goals, and creates chances for his teammates.
Now, we are not undermining Jota and his importance to the current Liverpool team at all, but we think that at this moment in time, Diaz is a better option for Klopp.
