Dimitar Berbatov says Aaron Ramsdale put in a ‘really good’ performance during Arsenal’s 2-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday, as he told Premier League Productions (15/01/23 at 6:45 pm).
The former Tottenham striker added that it shows the ‘funny’ side of the game that Mikel Arteta’s men were the better team against their north London rivals, but their goalkeeper was the one picking up the Man of the Match award.
From the get-go, the Premier League leaders showcased why they are sitting at the top of the table because they outclassed their neighbours from back to front.

The opening goal was yet another error from Hugo Lloris, with Ramsdale then denying Son Heung-min at point-blank range at 1-0, before he did the same to Ryan Sessegnon at 2-0 in the second half.
Throughout the game, the England goalkeeper commanded his box and ensured it was chalk and cheese between the two keepers on the day.
Whilst Berbatov watched his former side lose yet another game, he was left impressed by what Ramsdale produced on the day.
“This was the save of the match (Ramsdale denying Sessegnon),” said Berbatov. “I remember it was the first minute of the second half? If you score that, then you put Arsenal under more pressure.
“But if you look at the Man of the Match, then you said ‘they have been destroyed and Spurs played so well. The goalkeeper is the Man of the Match’. You look at that and think ‘it’s fine’.
“At the same time, Arsenal won the game. This is the irony of football sometimes. Your goalkeeper is Man of the Match – that’s the funny side of football sometimes.
“At the end of the day, they won it. They deserve to win it. Spurs had their chances. But the difference, it sounds harsh, the effort from both goalkeepers was the difference. One had a bad day in the office. The other one had a really good day.”

RAMSDALE’S BEST PERFORMANCE
That was Ramsdale’s best performance since first donning the Arsenal colours over 18 months ago.
There were question marks about his big-money move from Sheffield United during the summer of 2021, but he can rightfully say that he is one of the best keepers in the Premier League right now.
If you want to win the title, then you need your keeper to produce these kinds of performances throughout the season and Ramsdale has done just that.
