“I’ve got to do some soul searching,” he said, via Duane Rankin on X. “That’s really it. It’s the second time, but I’ll learn from it. I thought he was going to run and try to get the rebound. So I tried to stop him. But maybe I’ve been lifting too much.”
He added, “I’ve got to do what the other guys are doing and lift on game day. I don’t know. I can’t explain it. Just got to figure it out before the next game so I don’t do it and put my team in a bad spot.”
The tone was reflective rather than defensive, a change from the posture Brooks often takes when controversy follows. It suggested a player aware of how his approach is viewed and, at least for now, willing to adjust.
