Tottenham Hotspur have a blockbuster manager in Antonio Conte now, but the North London could have had another big-name boss – Roberto Mancini.
Tottenham Hotspur linked with Roberto Mancini
In June 2021, The Telegraph reported that Tottenham held talks with former Wolverhampton Wanderers boss Nuno.
Nuno was eventually appointed as the Tottenham boss and subsequently sacked.
However, the same report claimed that Tottenham had Mancini on their radar as well.
Italy blow
Now, Mancini had just led Italy to Euro 2020 success, and we know all about his achievements with Manchester City.
However, the Italian has reached a new low in his managerial career.
On Thursday evening, Italy lost 1-0 to North Macedonia in the 2022 World Cup qualifying semi-final playoff.

The result means that the defending European champions will not qualify for the Qatar World Cup, leading former Tottenham striker and BBC MOTD presenter Gary Lineker to describe it as “an almighty and devastating fall”.
It will be interesting to see what the Italian FA do in regard to Mancini now.
Mancini won the European championship with Italy last summer, so surely that should give him the stay of execution.
Football is harsh and cruel, but maybe Mancini should be given another chance.
