Demetrious Johnson is not sold on the idea that Conor Benn’s reported $15 million Zuffa Boxing deal is a reflection of his market value, suggesting it might be more about Dana White making a statement.
White made headlines earlier this week by adding ‘The Destroyer’ to the growing roster of Zuffa Boxing, a move that instantly grabbed attention across both boxing and MMA circles.
Just days after the signing, reports emerged claiming that Benn’s deal was worth $15 million for a single fight.
Johnson has since weighed in, suggesting that the figure might be less about Benn’s value and more about the American businessman wanting to send a message to the rest of the boxing world.
Demetrious Johnson questions Conor Benn’s $15 million signing

‘Mightymouse’ has raised doubts about the legitimacy of Benn’s $15 million deal, pointing out how it contrasts with what some of the UFC’s top fighters are reportedly earning.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Johnson said: “$15 million for one fight is crazy because what’s gonna happen after this fight?
“Is the $15 million worth having Conor Benn? It’s the first time I’ve heard of him. From what everybody is telling me, he’s a very good boxer. But is Khamzat Chimaev making $15 million? Is Ilia Topuria making $15 million? Is Merab Dvalishvili making $15 million?
“We don’t know because those numbers are always hidden, but I truly believe it’s a flex from Dana White, paying Conor Benn $15 million.”
The former flyweight champion has been vocal about UFC pay structures and other issues since leaving the organisation in 2018.
Sean O’Malley reacts to Conor Benn’s contract
The massive contract offered to Benn drew skepticism from multiple sources, not just Johnson.
Sean O’Malley also weighed in, saying he does not even know who the British boxer is.
Benn’s deal has not sparked widespread backlash among fighters yet, but O’Malley did voice his frustration over the pay gap between ‘The Destroyer’ and established UFC stars.
