Whisper it, but Arsenal are genuinely looking like Premier League title contenders.

After 10 matches, the Gunners are top of the standings and boast a four-point cushion over Manchester City and Spurs in second and third respectively.

On Sunday, they ground out a massive 1-0 victory away to Leeds United, the sort of wins that teams with Premier League title potential tend to grind out.

It’s still only October and Arsenal supporters won’t be getting their hopes up just yet, having failed to win this competition in 18 years.

Former Gunners midfielder Emmanuel Frimpong, however, has zero confidence in Arteta’s troops.

And the 30-year-old claims that only ‘deluded Arsenal fans’ believe challenging Manchester City is on the cards this season.

He tweeted out today:

Bigger tests than away to Elland Road lie ahead for Arsenal, but they’re unfazed by anything they come up against at the moment.

The Emirates Stadium outfit have beaten Spurs and Liverpool already in October and home and away against Pep Guardiola’s side will be a fascinating prospect.

Arteta will be playing down title challenges and whatnot, but secretly he must know there’s a chance.

At the moment, Arsenal are far and away the best and only team who are looking like a threat to City, despite Tottenham boasting the same number of points as the reigning champions.
