Dean Windass has responded to reports his son Josh has been offered to English clubs this summer.

The Daily Record listed Winass Jr as one of eight Rangers players made available by new boss Pedro Caixinha, claiming he could leave Ibrox for as little as £150,000.

But Windass Sr – a former footballer himself with various clubs including Aberdeen – has suggested the newspaper’s information is incorrect.

Posting a link to the article on Twitter, the 48-year-old wrote: “False”.

Windass Jr arrived at Rangers a year ago from Accrington Stanley, alongside Ibrox teammate Matt Crooks.

However, the pair have found life tough north of the border, although injuries haven’t helped in either player’s case.

The Daily Record’s report claimed that Crooks – along with Barrie McKay, James Tavernier, Martyn Waghorn, Joe Garner, Rob Kiernan and Harry Forrester – would also be allowed to leave Rangers this summer.

English sides Newcastle United and Derby County were linked with moves for Windass Jr in December 2016 [Scottish Sun].
