Rangers have ended another transfer window with Alfredo Morelos still at the club – but Davie Provan thinks they would have preferred to sell.
Morelos joined Rangers from HJK Helsinki back in 2017, and few would have expected him to still be at Ibrox heading towards 2022.
The 25-year-old smashed 94 goals in his first four seasons at Rangers, helping Steven Gerrard’s men clinch the Scottish Premiership title last season.
The Colombian has blown hot and cold in the opening stages of this season, and it’s fair to say that interest in him has somewhat slowed down.
There haven’t been many Premier League clubs pursuing Morelos this summer, and even talk of a £10million move to Porto died down.
Last week’s transfer deadline passed with Morelos still at Rangers, and unless a move to Turkey or Russia transpires, Morelos will be at Rangers into the New Year.
Morelos just needs to get his head down and find the net if he is to continue progressing, and pundit Davie Provan has had his say.

Provan has told The Scottish Sun that he thinks Rangers may have actually hoped to sell Morelos to balance the books following the Champions League disaster.
Provan isn’t even sure whether Morelos is fully committed to Rangers right now, and wonders whether Gerrard can get the best out of his squad even if no key players have gone.
“Had Gers scooped the Champions League jackpot, they would have had the headroom to strengthen again. Not now,” said Provan. “I’m guessing chairman Douglas Park would have welcomed a serious Porto bid for Morelos. And when the Colombian is admitting he wants out of Ibrox “soon”, you wonder if his head is in the right place.”
“Bottom line is there’s only so much money Park and fellow investors can throw at it. Gerrard will be relieved he’s lost none of his big players. Whether he can get the same from them as last season is the question,” he added.
