Writing in his weekly column in The Athletic, David Ornstein has claimed that Aston Villa plan on keeping hold of young talent Louie Barry in January rather than looking to loan him out.
The teenager has earned a lot of plaudits from fans for his performances for the U23s as of late, and it seems as though Villa want to keep his development in-house for now.
The youngster is clearly a massive talent, after all, he was recently on Barcelona’s books, and Villa will want to make sure he has the best chance to realise his potential at the club.
Fans have recently called for him to get a go in the first-team, and while there is no concrete reports stating that Dean Smith is planning on giving him a go, the fact that he’s staying beyond January will certainly give him more of a chance.
Smith clearly rates Barry, describing him as a ‘bright young kid’ earlier this year, so it’s not all that surprising to hear that Villa want to keep him close rather than loaning him out.
The striker may find himself a little higher up the pecking order at Villa Park, especially with Wesley being linked with a move away in January, while Keinan Davis is out injured for the foreseeable future.
