This season, Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark has become a villain for many WNBA fans and experts alike. Most blame her on-court antics for it, including consistent complaints to the referees.
Keeping that in mind, USA Today’s Nancy Armour wrote a story about how Clark’s constant flopping is becoming dangerous for the safety of black and queer WNBA players.
In the story, Armour compared Clark’s antics to the murder of Emmett Till, and fans immediately called out the USA Today writer for her ridiculous take.
Dave Portnoy slams Nancy Armour’s apology after viral Caitlin Clark story
Following a brutal reception from WNBA fans, Armour posted an apology, as shared by TMZ Sports. Armour admitted that she missed the mark with her opinion on Clark.
Armour claimed she intended to connect the WNBA’s issues to Till’s hometown of Chicago, where the 2026 All-Star game will be held. The USA Today writer has now protected her posts on X.
This led to a furious reaction from Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy, as he demanded the firing of Armour.
“Nothing screams coward like saying something utterly insane and being private so you can live in your little echo chamber pretending reality doesn’t exist,” Portnoy tweeted.
He added,” Fire this lady. Fire the editor who posted it. Fire USA Today for crimes against humanity.”
Portnoy’s takes are often considered atrocious by many, but most fans supported his recent demand. After all, comparing Clark’s bickering with refs to one of the worst tragedies of all time is simply insane.
