Dave Portnoy will appear on a major American TV show alongside fellow New England native and now Dallas Mavericks superstar, Cooper Flagg.
Portnoy and Flagg both grew up as fans of the Boston Celtics. While Portnoy still reps their beloved hometown team, Flagg is now the leading star for Boston’s 2024 NBA Finals rivals in Dallas.
Portnoy and Flagg will go head-to-head, as Team Barstool, led by Portnoy, and the Flagg Family, led by Cooper, officially enter into a feud.
Dave Portnoy and Cooper Flagg will compete on Family Feud
Portnoy shared on his X that he will be competing on Family Feud at 8:00 p.m. (ET) on Thursday night alongside his Barstool employees against Cooper Flagg and his family.
Team Barstool will feature Portnoy, Ryan Whitney (former NHL player and co-host of Pardon My Take), Rico Bosco (House Call podcast), Kirk Minihane (Host of The Kirk Minihane Show), Jersey Jerry (Barstool Sports content creator and streamer), and Stu Feiner (Barstool Sports Advisors handicapper).
Team Flagg will feature Cooper alongside his family, Dan ‘Papa’ Bowman (maternal grandfather), Ralph Flagg (father), Kelly (mother), Hunter Flagg (older brother), and Ace Flagg (fraternal twin brother and University of Maine basketball player).
The show is hosted by the legendary Steve Harvey and promises to be an exciting one. While Flagg is unlikely to let his former Celtics fan side shine through, Portnoy will definitely try to tell the 19-year-old superstar to eventually come to Boston.
Portnoy is from Salem, Massachusetts, while Flagg is from Newport, Maine. Naturally, both gravitated towards New England’s favorite basketball team, the legendary Celtics.
With Flagg now leading the Mavericks while being expected to be their long-term franchise icon, he will have to eventually avenge Dallas’ 2024 Finals loss to the Celtics.
Whether he does it by beating the Celtics in another Finals matchup or someone else, the ultimate goal for Flagg and the Mavericks is to win an NBA title.
But that’s still a long way away, and Flagg will focus on getting over the Barstool challenge on Family Feud first.
