Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United will have to pay €130 million (£109.47m) for Benfica striker Darwin Nunez, according to ESPN.

ESPN have reported that Benfica will not entertain any bids for Nunez below €130 million (£109.47m).

90min reported in March that Arsenal, Tottenham, Aston Villa and Newcastle all are interested in signing the 22-year-old, described as “a strong striker” by Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson on the club’s official website this month.

Darwin Nunez too expensive for Tottenham and Newcastle

In our opinion, Darwin Nunez is too expensive for Tottenham and Newcastle if Benfica do not sell him for €130 million (£109.47m).

The Uruguay international may be one of the best young strikers around, but we do not think that Tottenham and Newcastle are in a position to pay over £100 million for a 22-year-old.

Tottenham already have a world-class striker in Harry Kane, who is going strong as ever and is in his prime.

As for Newcastle, while manager Eddie Howe could do with a young and dynamic striker, PIF should not spend £100 million+ on a player in his early 20s.

Nunez has scored 25 goals and given four assists in 22 Portuguese league starts this season.

The striker also scored six goals in six Champions League starts for Benfica this campaign.
