Tottenham Hotspur will return to Europe next season after a positive debut campaign under Ange Postecoglou.

Many things have changed at Hotspur Way, with the biggest change being the feeling around the club and the style of play.

This time last summer, Harry Kane was about to head for the Tottenham exit door and join Bayern Munich.

It was a gut-wrenching feeling for the Spurs fans because they had to sell such an iconic figure, and that was days before the 2023/24 Premier League season had started.

No Upcoming Fixtures

Yes, Munich ended the season trophyless and many are questioning if Kane will ever win a trophy in his career, but Spurs still didn’t replace him.

Despite that, Postecoglou’s team still managed to score more goals than the previous season (74 goals) and newly-appointed captain Son Heung-min was back to his best.

Imagine what the London club could do if they had that focal point up top. That proven and all-round number nine!?

Sources have told HITC Brentford’s transfer stance on Ivan Toney amid Tottenham’s interest – as he is having the time of his life at Euro 2024.

England beat Switzerland on penalties to reach the semi-finals of Euro 2024, with all five players scoring their penalties, including Toney.

It could be argued that the Spurs transfer target scored the best of the lot, with Darren Bent labelling Toney’s no-look penalty as ‘good arrogance’, as he told talkSPORT.

Bent also stated that Toney is showing that he belongs at the top level because what he did in such a pressure situation was ‘impressive’.

“We know he does it every week for his club,” said Bent. “But you are right, to do it on that stage, Euro quarter-final, of that magnetite, it shows you the confidence in him.

“That’s why I always said. Him playing for England, I don’t think it will be a problem because he has that inner belief and that good arrogance to produce the goods at the top level. That was impressive.”

From the 28-year-old’s perspective, it’s time to step up and test himself on a bigger stage.

Spurs could provide him with that, as they are also in the Europa League and aiming to finish in the top four again.

Toney suits Spurs and Postecoglou’s system. The likes of Son, Brennan Johnson, the returning Timo Werner and Dejan Kulusevski, to name a few, would all work well with him.

Plus, with Toney having 12 months left on his contract, you just wonder how much power Brentford have in trying to keep him because something has to give here.

He either signs a new deal – which seems pretty unlikely – or they let him go and that’s where Tottenham can pounce.
