Darren Bent told talkSPORT on Sunday evening that there would be ‘a lot of snobbery’ if Tottenham appointed Eddie Howe as their next manager.

Take your pick as to who Daniel Levy will appoint as Tottenham’s next boss because, forget about the supporters not knowing who it will be, it doesn’t seem as though the man in the club’s boardroom does.

It’s been over two months since Jose Mourinho was sacked by Tottenham, yet he has a new job in Rome and Levy is still trying to find his replacement.

Former Bournemouth boss, Howe, is currently out of work and someone like Jermaine Jenas has previously stated that he would be open to the Englishman taking the job.

Nonetheless, this is what ex-Spurs striker, Bent, had to say about Howe possibly becoming Spurs boss.

“When you actually look at the people that are out of work, at the minute,” said Bent. “You have got Nuno and Eddie Howe.

“If Eddie Howe was to become Spurs manager then I think there would be a lot of snobbery. ‘Why are we appointing Eddie Howe?’

“I think that type of manager, what he has done at Bournemouth, building and getting them playing good football. I think that’s exactly what they need.”

Given some of the names that have been touted, and the negative reaction from the Spurs supporters, then snapping up Howe isn’t a bad bet in that regard.

But all of this mess just makes Levy’s call to sack Mourinho days before the League Cup final even more embarrassing.

By all means, sack the bloke, but wait until after the League Cup final, or when the season has come to an end.

Instead, it just puts a mockery on the club and probably, from the Spurs fans perspective, further emphasises why Levy is lucky he’s still the club’s chairman.
