Darren Bent thinks Arsenal can still sign the ‘really good’ Leicester City midfielder, Youri Tielemans, even if they complete the transfer of Fabio Vieira from FC Porto, as he told talkSPORT.

Arsenal are closing in on their first signing of the 2022 summer transfer window, with the aptly-named Vieira set to join Portuguese giants Porto.

It’s a much-needed signing for the Gunners because their attack needs more oomph, and so does their midfield, as the Porto playmaker will provide that.

But Leicester’s Tielemans has also been on the London club’s radar this summer and Bent thinks that deal can also be done on top of the Vieira transfer.

“No, I am hoping there is still an opportunity for Tielemans to come in as well,” said Bent.

“He’s a good player. A really good player. You can’t have one player for every position.

“Arsenal are in Europe again, so I am sure there is more (money). But he (Partey) doesn’t stay fit, so we need as many good players as we can.”

ARSENAL MAKING MOVES

On top of Vieira and possibly Tielemans, there is also talk that Arsenal are close to securing the signature of Gabriel Jesus.

The Manchester City striker is looking to leave the Etihad, after the arrivals of Erling Haaland and Julian Alvarez this summer – and the Emirates stadium might just be his next destination.

And despite the Gunners not being in the Champions League, the Brazil international is seemingly happy to join the club and reunite with Arteta.

Either way, with fans starting to get twitchy about what type of deals they do or don’t conclude, it seems as though Arsenal’s transfer business will get going during these coming weeks.
