Arsenal are top of the Premier League and that’s because they’ve had some outstanding individual efforts this season.
Granit Xhaka has forced virtually every Gunners supporter to reassess their view of him as a result of some phenomenal midfield displays.
Further forward, Gabriel Martinelli has been a livewire on the left-hand side of attack, scoring five Premier League goals since August.
In centrally, well everyone knows what a difference Gabriel Jesus has made to his Arsenal side.
Even when he isn’t scoring, the former Manchester City attacker is creating chances for his teammates and he’s been a revelation in North London.
But none of those players have made Darren Bent’s top five in the Premier League this season.
Instead, the Arsenal-mad pundit has selected William Saliba.
He told talkSPORT [02/11, 6:30 pm]: “I’ve gone for William Saliba. He’s been absolutely brilliant. In terms of Premier League I’d put him in the top five.”
Saliba has certainly been one of the Premier League’s best defenders this season.
Problem is, Gabriel beside him isn’t looking as solid and that’s massively important for Arsenal.
If Mikel Arteta’s side are going to go all the way this season, the Spanish manager will need Gabriel just as immense as his centre-back partner.
It’s the weak link that breaks the chain and the Brazil international must ensure that it isn’t him.
