The Peterborough United striker has been mentioned as a potential Barnsley target.
The Peterborough United owner, Darragh MacAnthony, has warned that Ivan Toney is not for sale amid reports the striker could be targeted by Barnsley.
Toney’s name has been suggested as a possible replacement for Barnsley’s Kieffer Moore, who is said to have interest from rival Championship clubs.
But Toney, who ended his maiden season at Peterborough with 23 goals in all competitions, won’t be heading to Oakwell if MacAnthony has anything to do with it.
Responding to a fan on Twitter, the Irishman wrote:
Peterborough are reported to have paid Newcastle United around £650,000 to acquire Toney’s services a year ago.
And McAnthony previously suggested that Toney was worth more than three times the fee Newcastle received.
The 23-year-old has already had two loan spells at Barnsley, although he scored or made just four goals in 21 games for the Tykes.
