Some Sunderland fans would love to see Marcus Maddison sign.

Peterborough United owner Darragh MacAnthony has admitted on Twitter that it could be a ‘tough’ conversation with playmaker Marcus Maddison if Sunderland come back in for him.
The Posh took a calculated punt on Maddison back in 2014, luring him from non-league Gateshead, and he’s been a favourite at the ABAX Stadium ever since.
Maddison hit 10 goals and a staggering 23 assists this season, following on from 12 goals and 23 assists last season, with the 25-year-old impressing both in front of goal and creatively.
Maddison has long been tipped for a move away from Peterborough, but with just one year on his contract, this summer may finally be the time for him to move on.
Championship clubs will surely have a look at Maddison, but many Sunderland fans have been hoping that he’ll return to the North East having been born in Durham.

Maddison started out with Newcastle United, but Sunderland fans are still asking whether Maddison could be signed, and Posh owner MacAnthony has offered a latest take.
MacAnthony has admitted that boss Jack Ross has been interested in Maddison in the past, and whilst Peterborough would be reluctant to sell to a League One rival, it could be a ‘tough’ conversation with the playmaker if Sunderland come back in, given that they would offer him a return home to the North East.
