Ian Wright has debunked suggestions that all Antonio Conte is worried about at Tottenham is protecting his legacy following his recent outburst.
The Italian coach has won at every club he has been at, up until arriving at Tottenham, where the north London outfit will go trophyless again this season.
Over the weekend, after Spurs let a 3-1 lead slip to draw 3-3 at Southampton, Antonio Conte let rip at near-on everyone at the club.

Everyone knew that the former Inter Milan and Juventus boss is outspoken, no more so than Spurs chairman, Daniel Levy, who brought him to the club last season after the dreadful spell of Nuno Espirito Santo.
But, in life, you have to have consequences for your actions and it seems as though, for Conte, it’s getting sacked by Spurs during the international break, with Levy set to make a decision.
Arsenal legend Ian Wright spoke about the Spurs manager’s situation and defended him by claiming that he is more annoyed at Daniel Levy not changing his ways, as he told Premier League Productions (20/03/23 at 2:15 pm).
“Right from the start, he really didn’t want the job,” said Wright. “He has taken the job, and when he has got there, he is probably thinking ‘yeah, I am probably going to change that’, then Daniel Levy is still being Daniel Levy.
“He’s not changing or he’s not moving on anything. He’s not really maybe getting the players he wants to get. He has kind of probably realised, ‘you know something, I think this may have been a mistake, for me, at this time. Maybe I should have taken a little bit more time off’.
“You are hearing people saying that he is more worried about his legacy and what people are thinking about being a failure there. I am not sure.
“I think he is more worried about the fact that he took a job, that he didn’t want to take initially, and everything that he feared may happen whilst he is there, has happened and he hasn’t covered himself in glory the way he has coached the team.”

LEVY WILL NEVER CHANGE
Whilst Conte might get booted out, it shouldn’t hide away from the fact that he isn’t the first manager at Spurs to question what’s going on upstairs.
This isn’t a case of the club not being run properly or in a healthy manner, the fans don’t have any issues with that.
It’s a case of showing a lack of ambition or not pushing the boat out when they are in strong positions in the league or when they have players of Harry Kane’s ilk on their books – and if you are the England captain, then you’d leave as soon as the summer transfer window opens, with Jamie O’Hara urging the 29-year-old to do just that.
