In news that may be of interest to Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy, Mauricio Pochettino has been relieved of his duties at PSG.
The Argentine manager has been sacked by Le Parisiens less than two years after taking charge of the Ligue 1 giants, and now, he’s back on the managerial market.
Unfortunately for the former Spurs boss, there aren’t many top jobs out there for him at the moment.
Indeed, all of the Premier League’s big six along with all the big clubs in Italy, Spain and Germany all seem to be very settled with their managers at the moment, and Pochettino has been left out in the cold.
However, if things go haywire at Tottenham for Antonio Conte, the Argentine could soon find himself back in a job.
A couple of months back it looked like Conte could ditch Spurs for PSG, and around that time it was reported that Daniel Levy would have looked towards Pochettino to replace the Italian had he left.
Of course, Conte eventually didn’t leave Spurs and he looks set to stay for the season, but, as we should all know in football, things don’t always work out how they’re planned.
One bad run of form or one bust-up with the board and Conte could be on his way out of Spurs, and if he is, Pochettino could well be a leading candidate to replace him now that he’s unattached after leaving PSG.
Every Spurs fan will be hoping that Conte does well and sees out the length of his contract, but with Pochettino leaving PSG, it wouldn’t be too difficult for Daniel Levy to implement his contingency plan if he has to.
