Paris Saint-Germain are set to part ways with Mauricio Pochettino – and the links to Tottenham Hotspur boss Antonio Conte are ramping up.
PSG won the Ligue 1 title over the weekend as Lionel Messi scored a beauty in a 1-1 draw against Lens.
That point was enough to get PSG over the line, claiming back the title after Lille took top spot last season.
That is Pochettino’s first major trophy, so the Argentinian will at least be glad that those jokes at his expense can stop.
However, Le Parisien report that PSG are still set to sack Pochettino as they ultimately seek Champions League glory.
Pochettino crashed out of the Champions League in ridiculous fashion as PSG threw away a 2-0 aggregate lead against Real Madrid to lose 3-2 with some kamikaze defending.
That will seemingly spark the end of the line for Pochettino even with that title win under his belt.
Conte to leave Tottenham for PSG?
The report notes that Zinedine Zidane is the top choice for PSG and there is hope that the former Real Madrid boss will take over.
However, it’s also claimed that Tottenham boss Antonio Conte has actually offered himself for the job on a two-year deal.
Conte only became Tottenham boss in November but there have been repeated rumours about his long-term future.
A huge job like PSG may be appealing to the Italian, but it’s hard to imagine that he’s offering himself to other clubs with Tottenham’s Champions League fate on the line.
Levy already pushing for Pochettino’s Tottenham return?
Tottenham may be expecting this though as Get French Football News report that Daniel Levy has been talking to Pochettino.
It’s stated that Levy has been in contact with Pochettino ‘incessantly’ in an effort to bring the Argentinian back to Tottenham.
Pochettino hasn’t exactly said yes to that idea, but the stars could align for something of managerial swap.
Conte to PSG, Pochettino back to Tottenham… it could become a real possibility this summer.
