Some Manchester United fans have taken to Twitter to give their reaction to speculation that Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds United want to sign Daniel James.
What’s the story?
According to the print edition of the Scottish Mail on Sunday (p129: 11/07), Leeds are interested in signing James from Premier League rivals United in the summer transfer window.
We covered the report here on HITC Sport.
James was close to joining Leeds from Swansea City in January 2019, as shown in the Amazon documentary ‘Take Us Home’ about the Whites’ 2018-19 season and reported in The Daily Mail.
The Daily Star reported in December 2020 that West Yorkshire club were looking into the possibility of bringing the 23-year-old winger to Elland Road in January 2021.
What are Manchester United fans saying?
As you can see from the tweets below, United fans are willing to sell James to Leeds and want Kalvin Phillips or Raphinha in exchange.
Well, some of them anyway.
A swap deal involving James and Phillips and/or Raphinha is unlikely to happen.
Actually, it is practically impossible.

Raphinha was brilliant for Leeds last season, scoring six goals and providing nine assists in the Premier League.
Phillips is one of the best holding midfielders in the Premier League and was a star for England at Euro 2020.
Leeds will not let go of Phillips and/or Raphinha, especially to bitter rivals, the Red Devils.
As for James coming to Elland Road, let’s see what happens.
