Crystal Palace attempted to hijack a deal to sign Arnaut Danjuma – however, he is now on his way to Tottenham.
What’s the story?
Well, the Eagles were supposedly keen to hijack the Netherlands international’s move to Everton, after he began to have second thoughts following the departure of Frank Lampard – according to Foot Mercato.
Southampton and Bournemouth also wanted to pinch Danjuma from the Toffees – however, Tottenham seem to have leapfrogged their competitors to sign the Dutchman.
The Times believe Spurs have successfully hijacked negotiations, with the Villarreal No.9 now set to join Antonio Conte in N17 after travelling to north London for a medical.
That was despite the fact Danjuma had already sat down with Everton to fulfil his media obligations, such as an interview, photos with the shirt and other formalities.

The Times add that Villarreal are demanding a £2.5m loan fee as well as a £27m option for Tottenham to buy the 25-year-old at the end of the season, which Spurs seem willing to agree to.
Remarkably, Danjuma was actually on the cusp of training with Everton, but did not send his registration form to the FA in the aftermath of Lampard being handed his P45, following Saturday’s 2-0 defeat to West Ham.
Danjuma should’ve picked Crystal Palace over Tottenham
In our view, Danjuma should have chosen a move to Crystal Palace over Tottenham.
Conte tends to use a 3-4-2-1 formation which only allows for three attackers, with those roles usually filled by Harry Kane, Dejan Kulusevski and Heung-min Son.
Spurs also have Ivan Perisic who can play as a forward, in addition to Richarlison and Lucas Moura.
Therefore, we can’t see Danjuma receiving much playing time in N17, whereas he would surely start on a weekly basis at Crystal Palace given the fact Jordan Ayew is still a regular name in the starting XI.
Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as Tottenham are expected to officially announce the deal soon.
