Crystal Palace are now in talks to sign Southampton and Everton target Dango Ouattara from Lorient.

What’s the story?

Well, the 20-year-old has been in superb form this season, catching the eye of Premier League sides as a result.

90min believe Crystal Palace are holding talks with Lorient for Ouattara after he scored five goals and provided four assists in his first 16 Ligue 1 starts this term.

It is said that Everton and Southampton are also negotiating with the French side.

The rumour comes after Foot Mercato in France claimed that Frank Lampard had already seen a €20m (£18m) bid rejected for Ouattara as he aims to improve his attacking options at Goodison Park.

Nevertheless, Everton remain in talks as they attempt to strike a deal for the Burkina Faso international.

90min add that Leicester and Bournemouth are also holding talks with Lorient over a deal for Ouattara.

Interestingly, the Lorient No.11 only has 18 months remaining on his contract, which means the Ligue 1 side are not in the strongest negotiating position.

Crystal Palace may have reason to sign Southampton & Everton target

In our view, Patrick Vieira doesn’t really need another winger at Selhurst Park right now.

However, the Frenchman could be preparing for Wilfried Zaha’s exit by signing Ouattara ahead of schedule.

The Crystal Palace No.11’s contract expires at the end of the season, and it would make sense to find a replacement now before clubs start charging a premium in the summer, when they know the south Londoners will be desperate.

If that is not the case, then we cannot understand why Vieira is targeting Ouattara when he needs a new central midfielder above any other position.

Crystal Palace are still yet to replace Conor Gallagher, and a similarly energetic player is crucial in order to play the high pressing football Vieira wants.

Be sure to keep an eye on developments, as anything could happen this month.
