St Mirren coach Stephen Robinson has all-but confirmed Dylan Reid’s impending move to Premier League outfit Crystal Palace, telling Sky Sports that he is ‘delighted’ for the young midfielder.
If The Buddies are hoping to bring in a new face or two of their own during the final few hours of the January transfer window, then Robinson will first need to sell before he can buy.
Fortunately, two sales are on the verge of completion.

Ethan Erhahon, the BBC say, is on his way to League One Lincoln City. Teen sensation Reid, meanwhile, could join Crystal Palace on a long-term deal on a busy deadline day at Selhurst Park.
“I am waiting,” Robinson explains. “It is a tough situation. We are waiting on medicals to go through on two boys (Reid and Erhahon) before the board will be able to release funds to go and try to recruit.”
Crystal Palace could sign Ahamada, Lokonga and Dylan Reid
Reid became the youngest player ever to make his professional debut for St Mirren back in 2021. The Scotland youth star turned down Celtic over the summer. He now looks set to follow in the footsteps of one-time Dundee United wonderkid Scott Banks at Selhurst Park.
“I am delighted for both boys,” Robinson adds. “Dylan is a young boy we spent a long time working with, to get him ready for the first team. Clubs in the Premier League are looking for potential, and that’s what Dylan has. He has lots and lots of potential.
“Crystal Palace have conducted themselves very well throughout the transfer, which has to be credited. Fingers crossed that both boys get through their medicals.”
The Sun believe that Reid will set Crystal Palace back a six-figure sum. Benfica and Bayern Munich are also keen in one of a number of exciting homegrown talents to rise through the ranks north of the border of late, following Aaron Hickey, Josh Doig and Calvin Ramsay.
A busy deadline day at Selhurst Park
Crystal Palace are also closing in on two industrious, energetic midfielders. Albert Sambi Lokonga should arrive on loan from Arsenal, with Stuttgart’s Naouirou Ahamada setting Palace back a £10.5 million.
“(Ahamada) is in London at the moment,” Stuttgart coach Bruno Labbadia admits.
“We have to accept things that are not optimal due to the sporting situation. It wasn’t the original plan to hand him over. But the club stands above everything. And if we can only invest a fraction of this transfer fee, then we have to do it.
“It’s important to stand together very closely even in such phases. But it’s also clear; (Selling Ahamada) one day before the end of the transfer window, it’s not an easy thing.
